Advancing and Adapting Your Senior Fitness Programming

Whether required as part of your role, or a temporary responsibility due to outside facilitator restrictions, there is an increasing expectation that recreation professionals are skilled at teaching high-quality senior fitness classes. In this session, we'll discuss where to start, what to include, and how to enhance your senior fitness offering to keep the seniors you serve physically strong, intellectually sharp, and socially connected.

Learning Objectives:

1. Attendees will gain a clear understanding about safely and effectively implementing quality senior fitness programs by debunking 3 common myths about aging and exercise.

2. Attendees will be able to ensure their programming offers the 3 components required in a successful fitness program: Cardiovascular, Muscular Strengthening, and Balance Training.

3. Attendees will be able to identify at least one way to implement the 6 dimensions of wellness into every class.
